Mechanical Project Engineer

Jackson Hogg is proud to be recruiting for a Mechanical Project/Design Engineer to join a close-knit engineering team based in Sunderland. This role offers the opportunity to work on the design and development on specialist machinery to support internal and external clients within the transport sector. The Mechanical Project Engineer will collaborate closely with the workshop staff and supervisor, procurement and the operations manager.

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Project Engineer

* Manage and update CAD Bills of Materials using Autodesk Inventor/Vault and the in-house PLM system.

* Support new product development.

* Produce accurate engineering drawings and related technical documentation.

* Respond to engineering queries arising from Fleet Operations.

* Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, including Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) and Machinery Directive (CE Marking).

* Work within the ISO quality framework and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Main Key Requirements of the Mechanical Project Engineer

* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering.

* Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and Vault; confident using Microsoft 365 applications.

* Experience in the design of light fabrication and bolted assemblies, including hand calculations on light structural components.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

* Willingness to travel occasionally across the UK or internationally to support operations or customer requirements.

* Full UK manual driving license and a hands-on, proactive approach to work.

* Ability to work within a small team.

This Mechanical Project Engineer role is full-time and permanent, 8am-4pm Monday- Friday with a competitive benefits and salary package.
