MEICA Project Engineer
Main Function of Role: End to end project delivery of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation projects.
Requirements: HNC / HND or degree qualified in relevant discipline. Experience of water projects, CSCS Card, Water Hygiene Card.
The MEICA Project Engineers will have the responsibility to manage the discipline Engineers and designers, service and equipment suppliers and subcontractors.
Overview:
We require MEICA Project Engineers to support the development and delivery of MEICA projects within in our Water, Wastewater and Bioresources workstreams.
The role will be office or site based as workload demands. The PE shall be responsible for ensuring a consistent and standard approach to the delivery of the design, engineering and site delivery to ensure that the SHE, contractual, technical, quality and performance requirements are fulfilled.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting MSP Operations
* Ensure consistent and reliable reporting of project/services performance into the MSP systems to create a single version of the truth, and report performance monthly by exception into the PM.
* Ensure key project and programme risks are identified early, and mitigated where possible, with issues and blockers escalated immediately to the PM.
Early Involvement
* Design Engineer for the concept and definition stages of Projects.
* Provide engineering input into the conceptual design phases.
* Undertake initial reviews of solution packages and raise any issues with the Client.
* Produce solution pricing design deliverables and scope of works packages.
* Review supplier bids and prepare equipment and installation project budgets.
* Input into the project risk and opportunities register.
* Input into the tender construction programme.
* Internal discipline design production and the review/approval of subcontract detailed designs.
* Sub-contractor detailed design management and reviews.
Engineering
* Production of engineering specifications and scope of work packages.
* Sub-contractor, service and equipment supplier management through to completion on site.
* Managing and optimising value in delivery through innovation, standardisation, consistency, best practice and value engineering studies.
* Participation in detailed design HAZOPs and ALMs.
* Site surveys.
* Engineering support to the project team from concept to completion.
* OEM and packaged plant O&M manual reviews.
Quality
* Attending factory acceptance testing/inspections in accordance with the project quality plan.
* Ensuring compliance with European/British Standards, WIMES, and the Clients specifications.
Construction Management
* production of site specific SHE management information (CPP / RAMS) and have the ability to review, critique and approve the site safety information provided by suppliers or subcontractors.
* Understanding of Construction Management principals and the operation of a safe construction site (start of shift briefings, toolbox talks, take 5s etc.).
* Knowledge and understanding of an operational water facility to ensure that work is carried out in a safe manner, with consideration to operational constraints, impacts and isolations etc. Cyclic
Activities
* Attending regular project design and progress meetings.
* Ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the projects in-house.
* Participating in Client and Costain audits as applicable.
Capability:
* Skills, knowledge, and experience of CDM and Construction Management in the capacity of Principle Contractor
* Skills, knowledge, and experience of CDM and Design in both the capacity of Principle Designer (or CDM-C) and designer.
* Advanced understanding of the importance of the customer and how to minimise and enhance the impact our works have on them ensuring their needs are accounted for in the delivery of every scheme
