Our team builds predictive and generative AI models to accelerate scientific discovery and rational drug design across multiple therapeutic areas and drug modalities.

Role and Location

Research Engineering (Machine Learning), London or Lausanne

We are looking for Research Engineers with different levels of experience — Mid through to Senior, Staff, Principal or equivalent levels.

Your impact

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to frontier research at the intersection of AI and drug design. You will work in a creative, iterative environment, partnering with scientists and engineers to advance foundational models that could transform the biopharmaceutical landscape. You will apply your engineering and ML experience while learning from others to address computational biology and chemistry problems.

What You Will Do

  • Implementation & Optimisation: Translate research concepts into practical implementations by developing and optimising state-of-the-art AI models, and building and maintaining robust codebases, data pipelines, and infrastructure for training and evaluation.
  • Experimentation & Evaluation: Design, implement, and run experiments to evaluate the performance and robustness of ML models; evaluate, tune, and maintain AI/ML models (including data collection and preparation).
  • Evaluation and Inference: Implement algorithms to analyse and evaluate AI model performance; optimise performance for Diffusion models, Transformers, and GNNs; advise on bringing models to production and integration into product offerings; develop tools/frameworks/infrastructure to aid the work above.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with research scientists and engineers, contribute to team discussions, participate in code reviews, and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Innovation & Impact: Proactively identify technical challenges, stay updated on AI advances, and build solutions that scale our model platforms; execute independent engineering projects towards research goals.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • PhD in a technical subject with a major engineering component and exposure to AI/ML, or BSc/MSc with 2+ years of ML model development experience.
  • Strong general engineering experience with one or more of:
    • Software design / algorithms for deep learning frameworks
    • Modern ML frameworks such as JAX, PyTorch or TensorFlow
    • Distributed systems and runtimes
    • Compilers (e.g. XLA, Triton, CUDA)
    • Large-scale model training and serving infrastructure
    • Experience in navigating complex research codebases
    • Databases and data processing pipelines
    • Numerical methods, simulation, optimisation
    • Strong fundamentals in mathematics, statistics, linear algebra
    • Experience with the full ML R&D lifecycle and understanding of ML theory/applications
    • Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms

Nice to have

  • Interest in chemistry and biology
  • Experience with biomedical data
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, ideally with a focus on drug discovery
