Position and Reporting Position: Mould Engineer Reports to: Process Engineering Manager Responsibilities
Engineering Accountability
Oversee the design of new moulds (in partnership with supplier) or modify existing moulds based on product requirements and specifications. Select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for mould construction. Prepare technical documentation including mould drawings, specifications, and maintenance reports. Ensure all moulds meet company and industry quality standards.
Develop procedures and best practices relating to mould design and tooling introductions.
Tooling and NPI – A cross-functional team is responsible for the delivery of NPI; this role will be accountable for the tooling aspects of NPI and will require project management activities to control tooling delivery. All tooling replacements are managed within a stage-gate process. Contribute towards the DIOPQ (Design, Installation, Operational and Performance Qualification) of tooling; verification of tool design pre-shipment. This role is responsible for design qualification and will be a key contributor to the remaining qualification gates.
Provide shop floor presence during IQ/OQ/PQ to offer SME advice to optimise yield/weight/cycle time. Liaise with international toolmakers—particularly in China—to review, challenge, and refine tool designs for quality, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability. Operations Support – Provide SME advice on PPM activities and assist to resolve mould-related issues/breakdowns such as wear, flashing, leakage, or dimensional deviations.

On-time delivery of tools Budget management of tooling projects Development of tooling delivery methodology & standardisation of tool NPI templates/best practices Contribution to CX/Opex annual savings ideas and implementation
Experience and Training
Strong knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and use of PDM. Mould flow simulation is desirable. Understanding of materials science, machining processes, and mould manufacturing methods with a focus on industry best practices for injection moulding and compression moulding. Problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. Desirable experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methods. High level of team ethos to work with procurement, suppliers, design engineering & operations. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, material engineering or related field. 5+ years’ experience in one or more of low pressure / high pressure injection moulding / compression moulding. Proven experience with thermoplastic / thermosetting tool moulding processes.
