Job Description

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

East London. £67k basic plus overtime and benefits.

A role that works as hard as you do — but respects your time.

If you’ve worked in fast-moving, heavy industry, you know the drill: breakdowns, reactive fixes, long hours, and little thanks. But what if the work stayed interesting, the shifts were predictable, and the company actually invested in the tools, systems, and people to make things run right?

Here, you’ll join a skilled engineering team within one of the UK’s leading manufacturers — a business with deep roots, long-term stability, and ambitious plans for the future. You’ll be maintaining and improving a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems that keep high-volume production moving around the clock. It’s hands-on, essential work — but it’s structured, supported, and balanced with time off that lets you breathe. No endless overtime. No chaos.

Why you'll love it here

This is engineering without the burnout. You’ll work a clear shift pattern with real recovery time — and a team that’s got your back. The site is complex and full of variety, so no two days are the same. You’ll get to work on meaningful plant improvement projects, not just firefighting. There’s structure, leadership, and real investment in both people and equipment. And whether you're solving problems, suggesting improvements, or training others — your ideas will be heard.

The firm

This is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers — a business operating at global scale, supplying high-quality products across multiple sectors. The site you’ll join plays a key role in that network: fast-paced, technically advanced, and built on a culture of continuous improvement. It’s the kind of place where engineers are respected, standards are high, and stability doesn’t mean standing still. Growth here is real — and backed by long-term vision, not short-term thinking.

What you'll need

We’re looking for a multi-skilled engineer with solid experience in a continuous process or manufacturing environment. You should be comfortable with both preventative and reactive maintenance, and ideally have worked with PLCs and high-tension systems. Planning, fault-finding, supervising contractors, and working safely will all be second nature. An HNC/NVQ Level 4 (or at minimum a BTEC/ONC) in a relevant engineering discipline is preferred. Most of all, we want someone who takes pride in doing the job properly and is always looking to improve.
