Transport for London (TfL) Engineers are always looking forward. Join us in our Vehicles Engineering team and, as well as maintaining legacy assets, you’ll deliver new systems and solutions. We are currently recruiting for NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Technician Engineers in our Vehicles Engineering Testing team. Based in our facility at Acton Town but expected to work across the TfL network, the post holder would be performing a variety of non-destructive inspections to support TfL’s assets.

Role Context
Join the Vehicles Engineering team to maintain legacy assets and deliver new systems and solutions across the TfL network through non-destructive testing.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of non-destructive inspections in accordance with NDT procedures and standards to support TfL’s assets.
- Work across TfL locations, including the Acton facility, and across the TfL network as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience (Essential)
- Currently hold at least 4 PCN certificates or equivalent, covering magnetic particle inspection, dye penetrant inspection, eddy current testing and ultrasonic testing.
- Three of the above certificates must be at level 2 or above.
- Desirable: level 2 PCN certificates in Ultrasonic Axle Testing (UAT).
- Competent to perform NDT according to NDT procedures and standards.
- High level of integrity; highly developed ability to act on own initiative; highly motivated with a passion for personal development.
Knowledge
- Ability to translate NDT codes, standards, specifications and procedures into NDT instructions adapted to actual working conditions.
- Interpret and evaluate results according to applicable standards, codes, specifications or procedures.
- Good knowledge of relevant TfL, British and International Standards.
- Good working knowledge of the TfL business, its obligations and priorities.
Experience
- Experience of working in a railway environment.
- Willing to work unsocial hours when required.
- Flexible working including across all TfL sites within the London area.
- Hold relevant certification to work in depots and lifts and escalator environments across the TfL family.
