Contract Opportunity: Network Decommissioning Engineer
Location: Kent/Sussex region
Rate: £450–£500 per day (outside IR35)
Travel: Up to 5 days/week across various sites
We’re currently seeking an experienced Network Decommissioning Engineer to support a major infrastructure retirement programme across a large estate. This role is pivotal to the secure and structured decommissioning of legacy MPLS equipment, ensuring all removals are meticulously planned, audited, and executed with zero disruption to operational services.
As Network Decommissioning Engineer you’ll be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of network decommissioning tasks, from conducting pre-removal audits and planning through to the safe physical extraction of routers, switches, cabling, and other redundant assets. With a strong technical foundation in networking, you’ll be comfortable navigating legacy environments, understanding dependencies, and coordinating closely with architects, engineers, and site leads to ensure service continuity throughout the process.
This contract involves extensive travel across sites, working independently and hands-on in field conditions. Contractors must be capable of elevated cabinet work, confident handling rack-mounted equipment, and diligent with asset tracking and documentation.
