OverviewIn this role as an Engineer in the NSV group, operating under the Bath Iron Works Business Operating System (BOS), you will support advanced shock and vibration qualification requirements for DDG-51 class equipment, with specific emphasis on production support. Responsible for all aspects of qualification, including review/approval of procedures, reports, similar extensions, preparation of technical submittals to the Navy and attending shock tests.SafetyBe able to understand and demonstrate BIW safety policies and procedures in Main Yard operations.Promote a culture of proactive safety awareness and accountability across the team.Ensure safe workplace conditions and compliance with government and company safety standards.Continuous ImprovementChampion BOS principles and productivity enhancements.Identify and eliminate non-value-added activities and elevate these to team leadership.Leverage A3 problem-solving and other structured improvement tools.Team Collaboration and CommunicationSupport noise and vibration testing on DDG 51 Class ships. Conduct airborne noise analysis to support design requirements for acoustic insulation to meet compartment airborne noise requirements. Conduct machinery vibration analysis on shipboard equipment and recommend corrective action on equipment exceeding specification requirements.Develop internal process procedures and internal departmental standards in support of DDG Shock Program Requirements.Calculate shock excursion envelopes for shock isolated equipmentParticipate in shipboard shock and sound short inspectionsProvide technical support to Manufacturing for the resolution of issues relating to shock requirementsSupport new manufacturing process initiatives, particularly in the area of shock and noise qualificationSupport NSV training initiatives for production and engineering personnelRoutinely interfacing with manufacturing personnel on the deck plates to provide guidance as necessary.Participate in or lead technical interchanges on issues with customers such as U. S. Navy (NAVSEA and Supervisor of Shipbuilding), or others as required.Required / Education / TrainingBS Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering requiredEngineer I: 0-1 years' experienceEngineer II: 1-3 years' experience requiredEngineer III: 3+ years' experience requiredRequired / ExperienceEngineer I: 0-1 years' experienceEngineer II: 1-3 years' experience requiredEngineer III: 3+ years' experience requiredBasic Understanding of vibration and dynamics.Ability to read, interpret, and follow procedures, standards, and work instructions.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.Excellent organizational, written/verbal communication, and presentation skills.Willing to travel, as necessary, to witness shock test at lab facilities.Willingness to work extended hours.Must be able to access government facilities; ability to obtain DoD secret clearance is.:Demonstrated experience working in a time sensitive environment with multiple competing priorities.Technical experience in related field of noise, shock, and vibration.Working knowledge of HM&E shipboard equipment and systems.Working knowledge of data acquisition equipment and data analysis.Demonstrated experience in new ship integration and waterfront operations. #J-18808-Ljbffr
