Your purpose:
On a typical day working in this role, you might be producing a hazards assessment or authoring a complex safety case, justifying, and supporting the critical decision-making in the design, operation, and/or decommissioning of nuclear facilities. On another day you may be working to influence the client’s strategic direction to support obtaining a nuclear site licence for their innovative design, networking to develop the business pipeline within your capability or doing a technical presentation to the regulator.
This role will also provide you with the opportunity to work with diverse clients from defence, nuclear generation and nuclear new build including innovative players from the fusion and SMR markets. You will be keen to support technical delivery of projects, address technically complex problems and present the solutions to different stakeholders. You will have the drive to deliver excellent technical work, paying attention to detail without missing out on the bigger picture.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to and learn from the wider technical community within AtkinsRéalis, taking advantage of the global expertise, we have to foster collaboration within multidisciplinary engineering teams. You will also begin to develop and mentor junior engineers to further support our growth and improve our capability for project delivery to clients whilst strengthening your leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Produce hazards assessments and author safety cases that justify critical decisions in nuclear facility design, operation and decommissioning.
- Influence clients’ strategic direction to support obtaining nuclear site licences for innovative designs.
- Develop networks to grow the business pipeline within your capability and deliver technical presentations to regulators and stakeholders.
- Deliver technically complex project work, collaborating with diverse clients across defence, generation and new build including fusion and SMR markets.
- Contribute to the technical community within AtkinsRéalis, mentor junior engineers and support leadership development for project delivery.
Qualifications
Experience in safety-critical industries, producing hazards assessments and authoring safety cases. able to justify and support decision-making in nuclear facilities. Ability to influence clients and regulators, present technical solutions to stakeholders, and work across multidisciplinary teams.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.
