Senior Structural Engineer

Location: Milton Park, Oxfordshire

Salary: £45,000 - £58,000 DOE

The Senior Engineer role involves hands-on analysis and design within the Civil Structural department, primarily focusing on steel and reinforced concrete structures. Responsibilities include leading design developments, working independently and within a multidisciplinary team, and supporting the development of junior staff such as Graduates, Apprentices, and Designers.

Reporting To: Principal Engineer

Key Accountabilities:

1. Preparing design documentation, including Basis of Design reports, technical specifications, risk assessments, method statements, and technical files in compliance with safety legislation.
2. Conducting and reviewing optioneering studies.
3. Developing designs that meet technical specifications.
4. Supporting calculations to substantiate designs.
5. Participating in design reviews.

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals, safety legislation, and regulations.
• Experience in Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel design, with knowledge of other materials.
• Proficiency in analysis software such as STAAD and Autodesk ROBOT.
• Proven competence in a design delivery role.
• Ability to meet deadlines without compromising safety or quality.
• Excellent teamwork, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

• Nuclear or highly regulated industry experience.
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel.
• Supervisory experience.
• Bridge design experience to Eurocode standards.

Qualifications:

Engineering certification (HNC / HND / Degree) with approximately 10+ years of experience in structural consultancy.
