Location: Offshore – East Anglia THREE Wind Farm (North Sea, UK Sector)
Contract Type: Rotation-Based (e.g., 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off)
Reports To: Service Quality Manager
1. Job Summary
The Offshore Mechanical Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical systems and equipment on the East Anglia THREE (EA3) Offshore Wind Farm are installed, tested, and completed in line with project specifications, safety regulations, and commissioning standards. This role focuses on the mechanical completion of wind turbine generators (WTGs), offshore substations (OSS), HVAC systems, structural components, and lifting equipment. The position plays a key role in progressing assets from construction to commissioning and final handover.
2. Key Responsibilities
Oversee mechanical completion of offshore assets, including HVAC systems, pipework, rotating equipment, structural elements, cranes, davits, and fixed lifting points.
Develop and implement mechanical completion checklists, punch list processes, and system documentation within the completions management system (CMS).
Conduct system walkdowns, inspections, and verification of mechanical installations alongside QA/QC, commissioning, and HSE teams.
Review technical documentation including method statements, test packs, material certifications, and as-built drawings.
Track mechanical completion progress against project schedules and identify risks to key handover milestones.
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with all applicable HSE procedures, including permit-to-work and energy isolation systems.
Interface with subcontractors to ensure quality delivery of works and closure of mechanical punch items.
Support commissioning teams during energization, functional testing, and system performance checks.
Contribute to turnover package preparation, readiness reviews, and formal handover meetings.
Provide feedback and lessons learned into project documentation and future operational phases.
3. Qualifications & Experience
Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
3–5+ years of offshore mechanical engineering experience in construction, completions, or commissioning.
Experience with offshore wind assets, substations, turbine platforms, or similar marine infrastructure.
Familiarity with rotating machinery, lifting systems, HVAC, and structural mechanical systems.
Working knowledge of international mechanical standards (e.g., EN, ISO, PED, DNV).
Proficient in mechanical testing, pressure/leak tests, alignment procedures, and commissioning readiness.
Skilled in reading P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and system boundary documents.
Experience using completions management tools (e.g., Orbit, CoConsole, GoCompletions).
4. Skills & Attributes
Strong inspection and problem-solving capability.
High attention to detail with a clear understanding of completions and system handover processes.
Effective communication and coordination skills within multidisciplinary offshore teams.
Ability to operate in a high-risk, time-sensitive offshore environment under safety-critical conditions.
5. Certifications & Requirements
GWO Basic Safety Training (BST)
OGUK Medical & Fit-to-Work Certificate
Valid BOSIET or FOET (with CA-EBS)
Right to work in the UK
Mechanical lifting certification ( but not mandatory)
6. Working Conditions
Offshore rotation-based role (e.g., 14 days on / 14 days off), based aboard an offshore substation or service vessel.
Work includes exposure to marine environments, climbing, confined spaces, and strict adherence to permit-to-work systems and safety procedures.
