Overview

Are you a skilled engineer specialising in Transmission Lines or Overhead Lines (OHL) with an interest in advancing your career within the Energy & Resources sector? Our client is looking to build their team with Engineer to Principal level OHL specialists. This position offers flexibility with locations in Birmingham, Derby, Glasgow, London, or Manchester, aligning with hybrid work arrangements. You will lead OHL projects and oversee deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead OHL projects and oversee their deliverables for the Transmission & Distribution division.
  • Develop design criteria, select conductors and structures, coordinate insulation, and evaluate lightning performance.
  • Create essential OHL design documents, such as line schedules, plan/profile drawings, staking tables, and specialised crossings.
  • Facilitate support and mentorship for colleagues to foster a collaborative project environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an Overhead Line Design Engineer, Senior Overhead Line Design Engineer, or Overhead Line Project Engineer, preferably within Transmission & Distribution projects.
  • Exposure to Design Consultancy, Design/Build contracting, or Asset Ownership is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using PLS-CADD for OHL designs and modifications.
  • Strong understanding of complementary disciplines in Transmission & Distribution, such as HV Plant design, HV Cable design, or T&D Civil design.
  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Civil Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • CEng or IEng registration or active progress towards it is desirable.
  • Experience developing OHL deliverables and managing OHL projects across multiple assignments is highly desirable.
