Overview

Are you a skilled engineer specialising in Transmission Lines or Overhead Lines (OHL) with a keen interest in advancing your career within the dynamic Energy & Resources sector? Our client is looking to build their team with Engineer level through to Principal level OHL specialists. The role offers flexibility with hybrid work arrangements and locations available in Birmingham, Derby, Glasgow, London, or Manchester within the Transmission & Distribution division.

Responsibilities

  • Lead OHL projects and oversee their deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Develop design criteria and select conductors and structures; coordinate insulation and evaluate lightning performance.
  • Spearhead the creation of essential OHL design documents, including line schedules, plan/profile drawings, staking tables, and specialised crossings.
  • Facilitate support and mentorship for colleagues to foster a collaborative project environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an Overhead Line Design Engineer, Senior Overhead Line Design Engineer, or Overhead Line Project Engineer, preferably on Transmission and Distribution projects.
  • Exposure to Design Consultancy, Design/Build Contracting, or Asset Ownership is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using PLS-CADD for OHL designs and modifications.
  • Strong grasp of related Transmission & Distribution disciplines (e.g., HV Plant design, HV Cable design, or T&D Civil design) is beneficial.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Civil Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in the power industry in an OHL design capacity; CEng or IEng registration or working towards it is preferred.
  • Experience in developing OHL deliverables and managing OHL projects across multiple assignments is desirable.
