PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £40,000 - £50,000 plus £5,441 London Weighting depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. The Operations Engineers role will provide 24/7 operational support, incident management and stakeholder communication for a range of BBC platforms and services.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
We provide Service Management for a range of Studios services and applications. This includes vendor management, incident support and deploying service upgrades.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Using a broad suite of broadcast and production monitoring systems to detect, diagnose, and resolve complex service-impacting issues across multiple technologies and platforms.
- Accurate logging of support tickets, ensuring clear communication with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Conduct resolution testing and provide actionable feedback to development teams.
- Initiate response to service disruption and support proactive measures aimed at preventing recurrence.
- Implementing contingency procedures in response to planned or unexpected events.
- Handover of incident and information across shift changes.
- Keeping informed of operational changes ensuring that actions are taken in line with best practice.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Experience using Phoenix 7 (scheduling tool).
- Strong understanding of ticketing systems and escalation processes.
- Experience of logging and managing incidents in an operational environment.
- Able to create supporting documentation.
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing defects in complex systems.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Problem solving methodologies.
- Knowledge of ITIL support model.
- Experience in media and creative environments.
- Knowledge of best practice in IT security policies, standards and procedures.
- NVQ Level 5 or above in a relevant technical discipline.
