As a Distribution Outage Planning Engineer you will, as part of a team coordinate and consider the needs of multiple stakeholders in order to deliver a workable annual outage programme. You will be expected to consider system security, ensuring that the programme is realistic and achievable, and obtaining client approval, in order to rebuild the network, deliver the construction programme, and make sure security of supply is maintained. This will be a key role in ensuring the flexible response of our networks on a real time and future basis, working closely with our Control Engineers and regional Engineers to offer guidance and assistance.
In this role you'll prepare, manage and take ownership of the SSEN ED2 outage process, understand and analyse the risk associated with specific outages and associated many interactions.
Here are some of the tasks you will be involved in...
regular engagement with internal teams
You will be required to confirm network compliance with relative engineering standards, you'll promote the Distribution Network Access Policy, Distribution and Grid Code to ensure compliance with the license obligations.
Carry out network contingency studies and provide reports to internal stakeholders.

Qualified to a minimum HNC level in Electrical Power Engineering or similar subject
Have detailed knowledge of the operation and nature of a power distribution system and be commercially aware.
Demonstrate a passion for solving problems by developing cost efficient solutions and an ability to drive business strategies.
Have detailed knowledge of the operation and nature of a power distribution system and be commercially aware.
Experience using network modelling software packages such as PSS®E, PSS®Sincal and/or Power Factory would be but not essential.
A confident communicator with the ability to produce reasoned justifications in structured written reports and be comfortable organising, planning and prioritising your workload to achieve demanding targets and deadlines.
