Packaging Test Engineer II

The Packaging Test Engineer reports to the Global Laboratory Manager. The main accountabilities of this position are outlined below. In addition, the job holder will be required to undertake specific projects either as a project manager or a team member as required by the Global Laboratory Manager.
Our Role
- Manage projects from an initial brief by liaising with customers during the process.
- Qualify bespoke insulated shipping systems to customer specifications.
- Work closely with the Sales department on customer projects.
- Visit customer sites to work on specific projects or to support a sales enquiry.
- Provide technical product support to Customers and colleagues within Sales and other internal departments, recommending appropriate solutions where required.
- Prepare laboratory tests using approved processes, equipment, and materials.
- Write technical documentation to required standards, including:
- Qualification Protocols and Reports
- Performance Summaries
- Assembly Posters
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and order in the workplace.
- Responsible for calibrating all equipment used for testing and evaluation of results.
- Maintain technical documentation.
- Create 3D CAD models of packaging components and system assemblies.
- Create 2D Technical Drawings from 3D CAD models to required standards.
- Transfer 3D CAD models to thermal simulation software, set up, and run simulations.
- Perform measurements, interpret, evaluate, and report results.
- Ensure adherence to all procedures and processes within the quality system.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality systems.
- Follow company policies, safety guidelines, and perform additional duties as assigned.
What you will need to be successful
- Ideally a Degree/HNC/HND in Engineering or similar discipline, or 5+ years of on-the-job experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, 3D CAD, 2D Technical Drawing, and flow-charting software.
- Experience with thermal simulation software is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects within deadlines.
- Strong verbal, written, mathematical, and presentation skills with attention to detail.
- Effective and diplomatic interaction with personnel and customers with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel for customer, supplier, or site visits as necessary.
