The Opportunity

Are you a highly analytical and proactive Engineer with a passion for root cause analysis and driving reliability improvements?

We are supporting a major global rolling stock manufacturer in securing a Performance Engineer for their Eastleigh depot. This is a hands-on technical role, reporting directly to the Performance Manager, where you will be responsible for the management of all safety, reliability, and technical issues on the passenger fleet. Responsibilities:

Daily monitoring and reporting of the fleet and materials performance, proactively suggesting methods to improve reliability. Conducting root cause analysis on defective material and in-service failures to establish core causes. Utilising specialist data systems to produce detailed trend analysis of vehicle system and component failures for inclusion in technical reports. Managing Safety Related Defects (SRDs), ensuring all tracking and documentation is maintained and updated regularly. Developing relationships with suppliers to ensure warranty issues are addressed expediently and corrective actions are applied. Managing and supporting the Engineering Change process and identifying modifications to improve fleet reliability. The Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a technical expert who is highly autonomous, organised, and capable of in-depth analytical work to diagnose and resolve complex fleet issues.

HNC/D or above in an Engineering-related discipline. Experience in a Systems Reliability and Performance role is highly desired. Proven experience in conducting root cause analysis on technical defects. Strong technical report writing skills and ICT literacy, with the ability to learn new software and technologies quickly. A proactive, decisive approach, with excellent planning and organisation skills. A collaborative team player, capable of using influence to gain resolution on technical issues.
