The Role: We are looking for an experienced Permit Engineer / Permitting Specialist to join a leading engineering consultancy, supporting complex construction and infrastructure projects. Based primarily in London, with opportunities to work across the Netherlands and Belgium, this is a permanent position offering career progression, international exposure, and the chance to shape permitting strategies on major projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage permitting strategies aligned with project objectives.
- Review design documentation and permit packages for compliance and accuracy.
- Create and maintain permit risk registers to manage compliance and schedule risks.
- Act as the technical liaison with authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Lead negotiations on draft permit conditions to ensure project viability.
- Track RFIs, agency comments, and prepare responses with engineering teams.
- Deliver clear weekly permit status reports for stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of permitting processes at local, national, and EU levels.
- Experience in securing permits for large infrastructure or construction projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and risk management abilities.
- Chartered or Professional Engineer status (or equivalent) desirable.
