The role

As a Plant Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of the Plant Management Group, a team dedicated to ensuring that work across our nuclear facilities is carried out safely, compliantly, and with precision. You’ll help manage nuclear-implicated equipment and services within the Vanguard-class submarine docking facility, supporting the UK’s defence capability and contributing to national security. Day-to-day, you’ll support the facility and ensure the design intent is met as well as:

  • Authoring nuclear safety documentation for facility plant and assets.
  • Managing implementation of activities and advising on nuclear safety requirements.
  • Controlling master documentation for nuclear safety management arrangements.
  • Investigating and implementing improvements to nuclear facilities and assets.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3-4 days in the office/onsite and 1-2 days working from home.

Essential Experience Of The Plant Engineer

  • Experience with engineering operations and modifications.
  • Knowledge of working practices within a high-hazard industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience in scientific or engineering report writing.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Qualifications For The Plant Engineer

  • Level 4 STEM qualification with relevant experience (essential).
  • Additional qualifications in nuclear safety or engineering (advantageous).
