Platform Engineer (Cloud Infrastructure) at Zopa Bank

The Team

Our Cloud Infrastructure team ensures the foundations for Zopa Bank are secure, resilient, and ready to handle the demands of modern digital banking. We work with teams across the business to deliver scalable solutions, automate where possible, and maintain reliability for our customers. The team is composed of 4 people: 1 Associate, 2 Mid-Levels and 1 Senior Platform Engineer.

A Day In The Life

As Platform Engineer at Zopa, you'll split your time across three kinds of work that keep the platform healthy and moving forward:

• AWS: manage the AWS accounts where the vast majority of Zopa’s applications are deployed, responsible for the management and cost of our infrastructure.
• Kubernetes: maintain multiple clusters and provide additional services around Kubernetes to enable features for Engineers.
• Hashicorp Vault: manage secrets and certificate generation.

Collaboration is at the core of our culture. We share ownership of the services we maintain and engage in regular brainstorming to discuss technical and non-technical challenges. We operate in a fast-paced, learning-rich environment with a balance of technical depth and a human-centered approach to software delivery.

About You

• Proven depth in CI/CD, deployment and container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
• Solid AWS experience and proficiency in at least one programming language (Go is used at Zopa)
• Comfortable designing, operating and troubleshooting production platforms at scale
• Strong command of observability tooling (Prometheus, Splunk or similar); eager to master Honeycomb
• Developer empathy & outstanding communication skills; thrive on coaching and cross‑team collaboration
• Track record of data‑driven decision‑making and continuous improvement
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and incident‑management best practices
• Growth mindset; curious about GenAI and its impact on developer productivity

Nice To Have Experience

• Experience building mobile or serverless (Lambda) CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to regulated or high‑compliance domains; fintech being a bonus
• Advanced Honeycomb or observability‑as‑code know‑how

Working Style and Location

We value flexible ways of working. This hybrid role requires you to come to our London office 2-3 days a week. There is also an option to work from abroad for up to 120 days a year. You must have the right to work in the country of choice.
