Platform Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) at ACT III. Location: Hove, UK (On-Site/Hybrid/Remote).
The role focuses on establishing a great user experience on Windows PC platforms (including Windows handheld consoles) as part of delivering a large AAA game on PC. You will join a multidisciplinary team of senior platform and graphics engineers, artists, and other specialists to identify and implement PC-specific features and assist with low-level performance and investigation tasks.
Responsibilities
- Drive the gameplay experience with mouse, keyboard, various controllers and other peripherals on PC platforms. Collaborate with other teams and contribute hands-on to implementation.
- Drive PC-specific features and their user interface, such as keyboard bindings, upscaling and other graphics settings, ultra-wide monitor support, runtime scalability, and related areas.
- Collaborate with partners (e.g., NVIDIA or AMD) to integrate the latest technologies.
- Participate in testing, analysis, and optimization of PC performance and scalability.
- Triaging and fixing PC-specific functional and stability issues.
- Review code written by peers.
Requirements
- You are part of the PC gaming community and care deeply about great experiences on PC.
- You have a degree in Computer Science, Game Programming or similar, or equivalent professional experience.
- You have a proven ability to diagnose and debug systems.
- You have contributed to at least one professional game project (AAA or indie) in a role relevant to this position for at least 3 years.
- You have strong C++ skills.
- You are proficient with Unreal Engine, especially in lower-level systems and code.
- You communicate and collaborate well and are motivated to learn from others, technically or creatively.
- You value quality and aim to promote best practices within the studio and project.
- You live in a time zone close to the UK (Europe or Africa) or are open to relocation. The role can be fully remote with working hours largely overlapping the team for collaboration.
Nice to have
- Demonstrable low-level optimization and investigation skills.
- UI design and implementation experience or background knowledge.
- Experience supporting a modding community as a developer.
- Understanding of the DX12 graphics pipeline.
