Position Summary


GSK are on the lookout for an experienced Platform Engineer to join the team. This person will be instrumental in helping drive automation, reliability, and observability on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role will involve working closely with development, platform engineering, and security teams to implement DevOps best practices, define and enforce service-level objectives, and build a scalable monitoring and alerting platform.


 


Key Responsibilities


  • Automate deployment, monitoring, and incident response processes using GCP-native tools and technologies.
  • Develop capabilities which allow Platform Engineering teams in Onyx to operate with a DevOps ethos.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimise application performance, reliability, and observability on GCP.
  • Implement and enforce Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Error Budgets to ensure a balance between reliability and feature development.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive monitoring and alerting platform to detect and resolve issues proactively.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with security policies and implement necessary controls.

 


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of cloud experience (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
  • 5+ years of experience working with CI tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines, CircleCI)
  • 5+ years of experience with Python, Ruby, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go
  • 3+ years of experience with Container Orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker)
