Position Overview: As a Preventative Maintenance Engineer, you will work in conjunction with the controller to maximise the operational availability of equipment for the customer through timely and efficient routine and preventative maintenance servicing and machine inspections. You will identify potential issues that may impact availability and carry out minor repairs as requested. You will serve as an ambassador for safety by servicing products in a manner that promotes safety for yourself and the customer.

Major Job Functions:

  1. Preventative Maintenance Servicing (routine servicing of equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, including oil sampling) – 75%
  2. Machine Inspection (visual and mechanical analysis of machine condition, highlighting developing issues with systems and components such as hydraulic, electrical, powertrain, and mechanical) – 20%
  3. Minor Repairs (minor repairs identified during inspections, installation of telematic systems, undercarriage inspections) – 5%

This is a field-based role. All drivers must have held a full driving licence for at least 2 years (DVLA licence check required).

Working Hours: 43 hours per week with flexible start and finish times. Monday to Friday, with 1 Saturday in 3 at overtime rates.

Specific Skills: Basic knowledge of the four main product elements (Engines, Hydraulics, Powertrain, and Vehicle Electrics/Electronics) related to servicing and repairing heavy mobile plant or similar equipment.

Accountability: Attend customer sites as directed, perform preventative maintenance, liaise with service controllers and customers, ensure work is completed to high standards and equipment is safe before return, and complete all paperwork accurately and promptly. Properly maintain company vehicle and equipment.

Education and Experience: Approximately 3 years of relevant experience or work in related engineering fields such as car mechanics, HGV fitting, agricultural engineering, REME, military vehicle repair, or a formal apprenticeship with at least C&G level 1. Health & Safety training is desirable but not essential; further training will be provided.
