Job titleRecruitment Consultant @ SoCode - Mechanical Engineering & DesignSocode are proud to represent a long-standing client who are always leading the charge in the world of critical communications – delivering world-class audio performance in rugged handheld devices.What will I be doing?You’ll take the lead on acoustic design for next-generation products – owning everything from component selection and DSP tuning through to system integration and testing. You’ll be hands-on with prototypes, solving challenging real-world audio problems and ensuring clear, reliable communication in the most demanding environments.ResponsibilitiesDesign and optimise the full audio path, from microphones and speakers through to DSP.Run acoustic modelling, experiments and lab tests, turning results into practical improvements.Tune digital signal processing (noise suppression, echo cancellation, EQ, gain control) for maximum performance.Work closely with hardware, mechanical and software engineers to integrate audio into compact devices.Troubleshoot and resolve acoustic issues during development and manufacturing.Produce clear test reports, documentation and technical recommendations.Drive continuous improvements in audio design, tools and processes.QualificationsA degree in Acoustics, Audio Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.Significant experience developing audio systems for handheld or consumer devices.Strong understanding of speakers, microphones and acoustic design principles.Practical experience with acoustic test equipment and analysis tools.Confident with DSP concepts and hands-on tuning.A problem-solver with a practical mindset and strong attention to detail.Clear communicator, able to collaborate across engineering teams.How to apply1.
