Principal/ Associate and Chief Geotechnical Engineer - Seismic Engineering

We are looking for staff who will take on either Principal, Associate or Chief Geotechnical Engineering roles in our Ground Engineering business. The successful candidates will hold a pivotal leadership role in our Geotechnical and Numerical Modelling Technical Disciplines, drive complex geotechnical projects, work in a technical review function and support AtkinsRéalis’ colleagues to increase their understanding about advanced geotechnical principles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead geotechnical analysis and design for seismic projects including shallow and deep foundations, soil-structure interaction, seismic deformational analyses, seismic response of dams and embankments, liquefaction assessment and ground improvement.
  • Lead numerical modelling teams with advanced software (e.g., FLAC/FLAC3D, PLAXIS 2D/3D) and analyse results.
  • Validate geotechnical numerical analyses and calibrate numerical models; manage the process within interdisciplinary projects.
  • Drive digital innovation and advance AtkinsRéalis’ capability in advanced geotechnical analysis and design.
  • Liaise with clients and engineers from other disciplines and produce high-quality reports.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas; valid UK driving license.

Qualifications

  • A good academic background with engineering degree; ideally MSc or PhD; Chartered status.
  • Experience in geotechnical analysis and design with seismic geotechnical experience.
  • Experience leading numerical modelling teams and using software such as FLAC/FLAC3D, PLAXIS 2D/3D; knowledge of constitutive soil models and model calibration.
  • Experience in managing geotechnical numerical analysis within interdisciplinary projects.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
