Principal or Associate Civil Engineer - Wastewater Modeller

We are seeking a Principal or Associate Engineer to support team leaders in managing project delivery, supervise tasks, and review deliverables. The role provides opportunities to develop technical skills and contribute to high-quality service delivery within a growing team.

You will be part of an award-winning water team within a network of professionals across the UK, supported by our Global Water Team. You will have the chance to shape the direction of a high-performing team, working with clients such as Severn Trent, Scottish Water Horizons, Welsh Water, and Southern Water, with potential for progression through combining technical and leadership capabilities.

What You Will Do

  • Develop the urban drainage modelling capability in the team, stay at the forefront of the latest developments, and provide training and development support to junior staff
  • Support the team lead in managing the work of the local technical delivery team
  • Provide technical input on urban drainage projects and support the wastewater team in delivering current and future projects, helping shape efficient delivery approaches
  • Apply independent engineering judgement and develop innovative solutions to engineering problems
  • Build and maintain excellent client relationships at all levels, and coordinate project meetings internally and with clients
  • Participate in business development and proposal preparation
  • Promote the WSP brand through appropriate industry forums and conferences
  • Contribute to the learning of the wider team through knowledge sharing

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • A relevant degree and chartered status, or significant progress toward qualification with ICE, IEI, IoW or CIWEM
  • Clear and successful experience of wastewater hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM) and ability to check the technical outputs of others prior to issue
  • Good working knowledge of Water Industry Specifications, Code of Practice for the Hydraulic Modelling of Urban Drainage Systems, and relevant British Standards
  • Good presentation, written and verbal communication skills
