Principal / Associate - Digital Infrastructure Design Engineer

WSP is seeking Principal Engineers and Associates to join our Digital industry-leading Intelligent Infrastructure team. We are expanding our Digital Infrastructure Design Capability across all areas and seek individuals with a strong enthusiasm for digital technologies and digital design methodologies. We value thoughtful questioning of traditional design practices and innovative solutions to enhance design and delivery processes.

Your Role

As a Principal Engineer or Associate, you will be responsible for leading infrastructure design schemes at both discipline and multi-discipline levels (dependent on grade) using your experience in roadside infrastructure design. You will collaborate effectively with the team, lead problem-solving efforts, provide support and address gaps as necessary, and be accountable for the quality of outputs from the team. The role requires strong client engagement, a positive mindset, and the ability to align client needs with corporate responsibilities, escalating issues to senior staff when appropriate.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

A degree in a relevant engineering discipline and working towards professional registration with an accredited institute. Possess domain knowledge in a relevant industry, such as power, communications, electrical, electronics, and highway design. The ideal candidate should have the following skills or competencies:

• Understanding of roadside infrastructure and design standards
• Lead design processes, including the use of design tools
• Lead a team in delivering designs or schemes
• Collaborating with colleagues from other disciplines, understanding their basic principles
• Ability to collaborate successfully with clients and manage their expectations
• Ability to undertake the role of lead engineer to successfully take a scheme from inception to handover with the client
• Ability to motivate, develop and lead junior members of the team, encouraging individual growth and performance
• Ability to problem-solve and be self-motivated when undertaking specific tasks with minimal support from peers
