Overview

Principal / Associate Electrical Engineer (Building Services) at WSP. The role involves leading and delivering building services projects within the Northern Region MEPS team and providing design and technical leadership on a range of projects.

What You Will Do

  • Meet the requirements of a 'Principal Engineer' grade and have a proven track record in both leading projects for your discipline and for an overall project team; demonstrate where your personal input has led to the commission being won or successfully delivered.
  • Work with initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of the discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.
  • Work under the clear direction of the client and interpret the project needs to meet delivery requirements.
  • Lead a joint mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team, providing design and technical advice in a WSP project manager capacity on a wide range of projects.
  • Supervise the completion of detailed designs and the work of others in this function.
  • Consider project feasibility specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.
  • Direct others in the production of detailed and performance specifications for the discipline, subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.
  • Brief the project team regularly, including explaining the appointment and ensuring resources are available to complete the works.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • Working towards Chartership via an Engineering Council accredited honours degree or specific experience.
  • Degree in Building Services Engineering or applicable discipline, or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Working towards IET Engineer or Chartered Building Services Engineer.

Key Technical Requirements

  • Detailed understanding of the regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this through calculation.
  • Working understanding of latest electrical design software to allocate/direction of work on projects.
  • Ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically and effectively.
  • Ability to engage with clients and contractors in technical discussions and debates.
  • Understanding of working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software to allocate/direction of work on projects.
