We are seeking a CAD capability lead for AtkinsRéalis' growing Net Zero Practice. This position is proposed to be based from one of our core UK offices (Glasgow, Birmingham or Bristol) with a flexible mix of home-working and office time. Full-time or part-time applicants are welcome.
Overview
Join a team delivering renewable energy projects across a growing carbon net zero portfolio. You will lead CAD design capability, set up projects, and guide CAD designers and engineering teams to deliver right-first-time solutions in the energy sector.
Responsibilities
- Prepare designs, 3D models, and detailed drawings that comply with project and client requirements (multi-discipline).
- Develop cross-market CAD strategy, grow capability, and coordinate CAD designers across the UK and India.
- Line manage and coordinate CAD designers to deliver high-quality drawings.
- Coordinate with engineers, clients, and CAD teams to select and set up appropriate software.
- Review and check designs to ensure compliance with engineers and project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, conventions, and procedures, and applicable engineering codes and practices (including BS 8888).
- Coordinate and prioritise multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment; lead CAD improvement initiatives and tools development.
What You Can Bring
- Experience producing designs and drawings to applicable engineering codes and practices, with experience in leading others.
- Comfort working in new and changing environments and a desire to contribute to business success.
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally.
- Proven track record of working effectively as part of a project team.
- Ability to support Quality Assurance processes through review or checking colleagues’ work and presenting findings to clients.
- Experience spanning the complete project lifecycle.
Key Skills And Attributes
- Experience with CAD software across engineering disciplines (process, mechanical, civil, electrical): e.g., Plant 3D, Revit, AutoCAD (including setup and configuration).
- Knowledge of software compatibility and integration; ability to deliver technically compliant design deliverables.
- Experience delivering CAD for high-hazard industrial projects (Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, High Voltage electrical infrastructure).
- Desire to inspire and guide others.
Optional Attributes
- A diploma in Engineering design, drafting, or equivalent.
- Previous experience leading teams and developing CAD strategies.
- Familiarity with EDMS/PLM software such as Vault, ProjectWise, and Teamcenter.
