OverviewPrincipal / Associate Mechanical Engineer (Building Services) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland. A lead position with responsibility for delivering projects for the discipline in line with client expectations.What you’ll doMeeting the requirements of a Principal Mechanical Engineer grade and have a proven track record in delivering projects for your discipline and in line with client expectations.Take responsibility for and direct others in the production of detailed and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.Reviewing design programmes and ensuring that sufficient resource is available to complete the works in line with technical and commercial performance and delivery.Able to work using initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.Supervise the completion of detailed designs and supervise the work of others in this function.Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.Training and mentoring of staff.Your TeamYou will work closely with likeminded individuals on exciting and challenging projects.The Building Services team in the Northern Region (Split across Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow) consists of more than 50 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers.We make extraordinary efforts to attract, develop, engage and retain the best professionals in our fields of expertise because this is what makes us great.We put the highest ethical standards at the centre of all we do and is inherent in our offering.We are humble and act with moral and intellectual integrity, keep our word, treat everyone with respect, support our colleagues, and embrace diversity.We care about individuals and their progress and offer the most fulfilling career development for our professionals.What we will be looking for you to demonstrateA proven track record of delivering a variety of UK Building Services MEP (Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) projects both in terms of scale and sector.Ability to engage with clients, contractors and design team members in technical discussions, co-ordination and debates.Have an ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically and effectively to both construction professionals and client teams.Detailed understanding of the regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this through calculation.Working understanding of latest mechanical design software packages to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.Proven understanding of working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.Don’t quite meet all the criteria?
