Capilaux is assisting in the hiring process for a Senior Bridges Engineer to join our York team and play a key role in the delivery of exciting projects across the UK, predominantly within the rail, infrastructure, and transportation sectors.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a proactive, client-focused engineer with a solid technical background and leadership experience. You should be ready to grow with the business and help shape the future of the company.

Essential:

Degree-qualified and Chartered (or sitting your review within 12 months – ICE/IstructE) 6+ years’ experience in a design environment Design experience with structures such as bridges, tunnels, stations, and buildings across materials including concrete, steel, timber, and masonry CRE-level experience in bridge refurbishment and renewals Strong communication and leadership skills Project management experience, including financial oversight and coordinating design activities Experience managing small teams (2–4 people) and multi-discipline commissions Confident in a client-facing, work-winning capacity Full UK driving licence

Key Responsibilities

Delivering and developing conceptual and detailed designs Leading technical inputs and design checks across key structural projects Using design software to perform structural calculations and analysis Representing the business at client and stakeholder meetings Managing small and medium-sized projects from scoping to completion Mentoring and supporting junior staff Site inspections and structural investigations Contributing to proposals and business development activity

You’ll report directly to the York Office Lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across our offices in UK.
