Then make a real difference and join us at Stantec! We are excited to continue our growth journey in Northern Ireland with plans for expansion in 2025 and beyond. We are continuing our work on Northern Ireland Water’s IF182 Professional Services Framework and have moved to a new city centre office in Belfast. This exciting pipeline of work, coupled with the scale of opportunity across the AMP8 cycle in the UK, including supporting Southern Water, means that we are seeking Principal Civil Engineers with experience in the water/wastewater industry to join us. You will have the opportunity to support Southern Water's AMP8 Professional Services Framework in delivering resilience and improvement schemes across the South of England, including identifying and designing nature-based solutions to improve water quality, reduce overflows, boost biodiversity, and spearhead best practices in hydraulic modelling, water recycling, and digital innovation.

You will play an important role in the team, developing technical solutions and providing advice to our clients. You will provide technical expertise to ensure projects are delivered to cost, schedule and quality standards and will work collaboratively among multi-disciplinary teams to ensure first-class delivery. You will also work closely with external stakeholders and clients to develop long-term relationships. On a personal level, you will learn and develop, and our goal is to aid your career progression and increase your job satisfaction. Your role will be varied and challenging, with opportunities to learn from the wider group and advance your career.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver technical solutions for water and wastewater projects, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, and quality targets.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders to secure successful project outcomes.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technical professionals.
  • Support business growth by contributing to bids, client relationships, and the pursuit of new opportunities.

About You

You will be degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related subject, with some experience in the regulated water industry. Ideally, you will have chartered status (e.g., IEI, ICE, CIWEM). You will have knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure, networks, and treatment. Ideally, you will also have experience in areas such as wastewater treatment, trunk mains and large-diameter pipeline design, service reservoirs, or clean water treatment. It would be beneficial to have consultancy experience mentoring or leading more junior engineers and technical professionals. Most importantly, you will embody our values and ethos of client focus and service excellence and have a passion for making a difference in the Water sector.
