As a Principal Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering innovative civil engineering solutions for a diverse client base — from local authorities to developers.\n\nNo two days are the same. You’ll work on a wide variety of challenging projects, balancing preliminary and detailed design across roads, levels, drainage, and external works — in both public and private realms. From inception to commissioning, your expertise will help bring projects to life and make a lasting impact.\n\nWhat you’ll be doing\n\n * Lead and contribute to multi-disciplinary projects, managing design of highways, drainage, and external works.\n\n * Use industry-leading software (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, or PDS) to deliver innovative, efficient designs.\n\n * Engage with planning authorities, statutory undertakers, and bodies to shape solutions that work for all.\n\n * Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their unique needs and building long-term relationships.\n\n * Mentor and support junior engineers, helping the next generation of talent grow and thrive.\n\nWhat you’ll bring\n\n * Strong technical expertise in Civil Engineering design, from concept through to delivery.\n\n * Proficiency in design software and confidence in adapting to new tools.\n\n * Commercial awareness and a clear understanding of client needs across public and private sectors.\n\n * Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships at every level.\n\n * A collaborative, positive mindset — with the drive to lead, mentor, and make a real impact.\n\nWhy join BWB?\n\nThis is your chance to step into a role where you’ll lead from the front, influence the future of civil engineering, and see your work make a difference on a scale.
