QinetiQ Portsmouth, England, United KingdomWe’re looking for a Principal Combat System Engineer to join our team at Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP). As a Principal Combat System Engineer, you will lead and shape the Strike Net programme within the Naval Combat Systems Integration Support Service (NCSISS), helping the Royal Navy to mature its Combat Systems Design Authority role.The RoleDay-to-day, you’ll lead a team of engineers to deliver a prioritised programme of Strike Net activities, develop technical delivery plans, coordinate integration and trials, and provide impartial advice to MOD and suppliers.Your Responsibilities Will IncludeActing as the Strike Net Capability Lead, directing Combat Systems Engineers on programme developmentLeading the delivery of a Strike Net Technical Delivery Plan across multiple workstreamsEngaging with customers, stakeholders and suppliers to align capability and programme requirementsReviewing test plans, leading trials and overseeing post-trial analysisProducing technical documentation and supporting artefacts for customer submissionsSupporting and directing sea trials on Royal Navy ships including potential overseas deploymentsEssential Experience Of The Principal Combat System EngineerStrong leadership skills and proven management experienceProven experience on maritime combat systemsThorough knowledge of Test & Evaluation and Integration10+ years relevant experience in engineering or systems engineeringAbility to analyse problems logically and resolve issuesExcellent communication skills with the ability to present technical issues clearlyEssential Qualifications For The Principal Combat System EngineerHonours degree in Engineering, Physics or similarChartered Engineer (CEng) or willingness to work towardsHNC/D level qualification (or equivalent) may be accepted with relevant experienceWe value difference and we don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.This role is full-time, based at Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP). Hybrid working patterns are available.
