The role

As a Principal Configuration Management Engineer, you will support our work on the Patria 6×6 armoured personnel carrier vehicle programme, following our agreement to be Patria’s UK build partner. This is a high-profile opportunity to join a major defence programme, contributing to the delivery of a proven, NATO-backed platform for the British Army.

Day-to-day you’ll be:

  • Leading the establishment and maintenance of configuration baselines across programmes
  • Managing engineering change control processes including Change Requests, Notices, and Control Boards
  • Collaborating with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure consistent CM practices
  • Maintaining accurate configuration records and ensuring traceability of requirements and design changes
  • Driving continuous improvement in configuration management processes and tools

    • This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

    Essential experience of the Principal Configuration Management Engineer

  • Significant experience in configuration management within defence, aerospace, or automotive sectors
  • Proficiency with CM tools such as Windchill, Teamcenter, or similar PLM systems
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
  • Experience in lifecycle management and engineering change control

    • Qualifications for the Principal Configuration Management Engineer

  • Degree in engineering, information systems, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong understanding of CM principles and standards (e.g., ISO , DEF STAN 05-57)
