GHD is looking for Electrical and Control Systems Engineers to embrace this opportunity and be part of our growing power team, delivering a range of projects for our clients in Europe, the Middle East and Australia. We are seeking engineers to join our power team in either Newcastle upon Tyne or Guildford.ResponsibilitiesLead, manage, and contribute to projects incorporating power generation, energy conversion or transmission / distribution control systems aspects. This includes but is not limited to:Conceptual design studies and cost benefit analysis of technical solutionsProduction of equipment control philosophy and technical specificationsBasic FEEDActing as owners engineerTechnical advisor and due diligence rolesDevelop relationships with clients and third parties working in this sector.Proactively identify and pursue or support in the pursuit of project opportunities.Lead or provide technical support and direction on tenders/bids.Support the training and development of junior engineers.Adapting to deliver non-core technical capability projects as requiredTo be successful in this role, you will possessRelevant degree (minimum BSc/BEng) requiredA broad understanding of the UK electricity system and the various stakeholders within it.Experience leading and co-ordinating project delivery desirableKnowledge of the design and specification of control systems as they pertain to power generation, energy conversion, electricity transmission and distribution systems.Particular experience of battery storage systems desirableBroader experience in the field of electrical engineering desirableExperience of FAT, SAT or commissioning desirableConsulting experience desirableSite experience would be an advantageBehavioursGoal-oriented and a problem-solving mindset coupled with the ambition to develop.Ability to adapt to change and confidence to work effectively in a high-energy, fast-moving environmentGood interpersonal skills; relates well to colleagues, clients and business contacts, and can influence to achieve positive results.Assertiveness / willing to take the initiative, drives projects forward proactively, and develops solutions to problems.Willingness to learn to improve the spectrum of technical and softer skills required from a good consultant.Engage with UK and international technical communities.What's in it for youWe are committed to the success of our people which is why we want to create the best employee experience that supports each member through all the stages of their career.
