This is a strategic, mainly hands-off leadership role (c. 20% hands-on) where you will set the standards for CI/CD, cloud, and containerisation, working closely with Delivery Managers, the Design Authority, and Platform teams to ensure every project delivered is robust and highly scalable.

Responsibilities as Principal DevOps Engineer/Lead: Lead and manage a team of engineers and graduates, ensuring clear delegation, training, and development. Collaborate with Developer Community, Architecture, Platform Engineering, and other delivery streams to embed and evolve standards. Assess and improve DevOps maturity across multiple workstreams, working closely with Delivery Managers. Set and maintain standards for CI/CD, automated testing, and pipeline building. Ensure all technology remains evergreen, robust, and aligned with organisational strategy. Oversee technical lifecycle management, risk assessment, and planning for both legacy and new applications. Support the adoption of reference architecture and design authority processes for all new projects.
