Arup is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join their team in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom.

The successful candidate will have a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with Chartered Engineer status (CIBSE / IET or equivalent). They will have experience in leading complex electrical engineering projects, particularly within data centre environments, and be proficient in electrical design software and power system modelling tools.

The role will involve leading the planning and managing the delivery of electrical work packages on medium and large-scale complex mission-critical projects, ensuring all designs and documents are prepared and reviewed to the highest standards, and presenting technical material for review by technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ensuring all designs and documents are prepared and reviewed to the highest standards
  • Leading projects and working closely with data centre clients to deliver quality work to meet their specific needs
  • Presenting technical material for review by technical and non-technical audiences
  • Contributing to conceptual design studies and reports for the electrical discipline and package
  • Developing and mentoring junior team members in their career development, including technical and soft skills
  • Managing finances and staffing resource to ensure successful delivery of projects within agreed budgets and timescales
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to maximise experience at the local, regional, and global levels
