As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will lead the @one Alliance’s electrical engineering discipline at a national and sector level. You’ll drive innovation, champion quality, and develop value-focused solutions that shape our future infrastructure. This role provides a platform to guide teams, resolve complex challenges, and set the tone for safe, effective design delivery.
What you'll be doing
Main responsibilities:
- Represent the @one alliance and provide sector-level leadership for Electrical Engineering.
- Be the Electrical Engineering authority, responsible for providing independent advice and arbitration for quality and compliance issues.
- Lead quality for electrical design by developing procedures, standards, and guidance, and monitoring adherence to achieve a right-first-time philosophy.
- Support Stage 1 solutions by identifying and assessing options (ROV process) and ensuring competent staff involvement during Stage 1.
- Provide direction and support to Lead and discipline engineers to choose appropriate design methods to deliver their outputs on time and to standards.
- Advise on complex design challenges beyond project teams' and @one’s current competency, including seeking external expertise.
- Drive excellence in health, safety, and welfare for electrical engineering in compliance with CDM Regulations, supporting engineers to produce safe designs.
- Identify health, safety, and welfare issues within teams and seek support to manage them.
- Undertake audits of electrical safety standards (e.g., HAZOP, DSEAR), ensure compliance, and lead improvements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to Lead Engineers, delegating discipline development tasks appropriately.
- Lead electrical engineering meetings to promote engagement and deliver initiatives.
Who we're looking for
Qualifications and experience:
- Engineering degree (or equivalent)
- Chartered Professional Engineer status
- Strong background in water-sector assets and capital project delivery
- Experience in Design & Build environments is beneficial
