Principal Electrical Engineer - Oxfordshire

An established, sustainability-focused building services consultancy is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join their Oxfordshire team.

This consultancy operates across multiple UK offices and provides a broad range of mechanical and electrical engineering services. Their projects span masterplans, new builds, extensions, refurbishments, fit-outs, and asset maintenance, with a strong emphasis on delivering efficient and environmentally responsible designs.

Working across sectors such as education, healthcare, commercial, transport, heritage, hospitality, and community, the team partners with architects, developers, contractors, and consultants to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

The Role

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in leading and delivering projects from concept through to completion. You will collaborate with colleagues across multiple offices, with support from senior engineers and directors, while also providing guidance to junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee electrical design projects from inception to handover
  • Undertake feasibility studies and surveys
  • Prepare specifications and detailed designs
  • Provide on-site supervision and contract administration
  • Manage installation and coordination of building services
  • Mentor and support junior engineers within the team

About You

Essential

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • 3-5 years\' experience in building services design
  • Strong electrical design knowledge and proficiency with design software
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior staff
  • Broad project experience across multiple sectors
  • Competency with Revit and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Full driving licence and own transport

Desirable

  • Previous experience with specialist design and modelling software (training available)
