Overview

Principal Engineer - Fire Engineering at WSP in the UK & Ireland

Join to apply for the role and contribute to fire engineering projects across the UK & Ireland.

Your New Role, What’s Involved

As a Principal Fire Engineer, you’ll typically work on a variety of projects at once—from a university in Scotland to a high-rise residential tower in London, with plenty of international projects. The goal is to enable innovative architectural design without compromising the fire safety of the building.

You’ll run through design information, liaise with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures, present designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and help inform the design team about changes that could increase building safety.

There is a structured path toward professional registration via the IFE and other professional organisations, supported by senior leadership. You will be guided through software, fire standards, team briefings and client updates from the start.

Qualifications

You will have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Must have experience within the fire engineering consulting industry. This role can be based from any of our UK major offices.

We offer a bespoke development programme to grow technical and professional skills, with training in areas such as:

  • Technical report writing
  • Team specific technical skills
  • Project management (introductory and advanced)
  • Influential communications
  • Commercial concepts
  • Collaborate team challenges
