Overview

As Principal/ Lead Engineer/ Engineering Manager, you will step up to chief engineer and be able to lead an office in London for a leading engineering consultancy. Specialists in foundations and steel design for offshore wind turbines, including stress, finite element analysis, loads modelling and complete design of large offshore foundations (e.g., jackets, monopiles, and steel towers).

Essential to have senior structural engineering experience in offshore wind, ideally foundation design. This is a wide-ranging, lead role with a mix of business development and strategy, management as well as hands-on design engineering. You will have offshore wind structural engineering experience at a senior level, e.g., package management, engineering management, and detailed analysis and design in the offshore wind sector.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage an office in London for a specialist renewable engineering company, with responsibilities spanning business development, strategy and hands-on design supervision.
  • Serve in roles such as Package Manager, Technical Lead, Senior/Principal, and progress to Lead an Office in London.
  • Oversee mechanical/structural engineering projects related to offshore wind foundations (jackets, monopiles, floating structures) and steel towers.
  • Coordinate engineering management, procurement interfaces, and client-facing activities, including chairs meetings and presentations.
  • Ensure design integrity through detailed analysis and design in the offshore wind sector and supervision of project teams.

Qualifications

  • BEng or MEng in Engineering (Structural, Civil or Mechanical).
  • Advanced offshore wind engineering experience, with emphasis on foundation design and structural analysis.
  • Experience in offshore wind foundations (jackets, monopiles, floating), steel structures (e.g., steel towers), and related geotechnical and fabrication considerations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to write, present, and lead meetings; strong networking within the renewable energy sector to support business development.
  • Experience as Owner's Engineer, Package Management, Engineering Management, or Contract Management is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with offshore installation, transport & installation (T&I), and dynamics of offshore wind turbine foundations; awareness of certification standards (DNV-GL, Lloyd’s Register, Bureau Veritas, etc.).

NB: It is essential to have offshore wind structural engineering experience. The client supports ongoing personal development, training and development. This is a permanent role based in London with potential for partnership.
