We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about options for this role.Salary: Negotiable, depending on experienceResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement and maintain the Project Safety Management System within a Systems Engineering frameworkProduce and manage Project Safety Management Plans & Justification PlansLead Whole Boat Product Safety hazard and risk identification, management and assessment activities, including modern analysis techniques such as STAMP & STPAInfluence the construction and delivery of the Project Safety Case including Safety Case reports throughout the project lifecycleComplete peer reviews, checking, verification and assurance tasks to demonstrate the adequacy and robustness of the Safety Case and supporting documentationOversee and peer review junior rules in the Product Safety teamUnderstand the application of wider Safety Case, Quality and HS&E Management System documentationQualifications & SkillsScience Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) Degree or equivalent qualificationAwareness of the environmental challenges the product will be exposed toExperience in traditional safety analysis techniques such as FMEA, HAZOP, FTA, etc.Experience in compilation and delivery Safety Case Reports and other supporting safety documentation (plans, processes, requirements, etc.)Experience of development and working within a Projects Safety Management SystemAbility to interpret technical data and produce clear, logical and robust safety argumentsProfessional Chartership or working towardsDemonstrable knowledge of design, manufacturing, assembly, commissioning and testing submarines lifecycle phasesExperience of modern safety analysis techniques such as STAMP, STPA, FRAM etc.Experience and knowledge of System Engineering International Standards and application in safety engineering contextPrevious experience of leading appropriate meetings and Working GroupsBenefitsAs well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts - you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.Team and Role ContextThe Safety & Environmental team: As the Principal Product Safety & Environmental Engineer, you will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Project Product Safety Management System and Product Safety Cases for the SSNA project and be able to resolve & guide others in solving complex project-related issues/conflicts across disciplines from a Product Safety perspective.
