Principal Engineer – Support Engineering (Technical Support & Authoritative Advice) role at BAE Systems. Location: Filton (hybrid and flexible working arrangements available; speak to your recruiter about options).

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing specialist knowledge in responding to engineering queries related to the design, safety, maintenance and operation of the equipment and systems installed on Dreadnought Class submarines.
  • Liaising and building relationships with MoD, Naval personnel and third-party Submarine Enterprise partners.
  • Technically reviewing proposed support documentation to achieve final acceptance before publication.
  • Working independently as part of the Support Engineering Team; attending and providing support at various stakeholder meetings.
  • Managing technical queries to enable Support Engineering to capture, respond to and report progress.
  • Reviewing and maintaining MoD-sponsored publications including Books of Reference, Defence Standards and Joint Service Publications.

Essential

  • HNC or equivalent in Mechanical / Electrical engineering or solid practical experience in a submarine environment.
  • Competent user of Microsoft software packages.

Desirable

  • Submarine and/or defence background.

The Engineering Support Team

As a Principal Support Engineer, you’ll work on technically challenging and diverse duties within the submarine enterprise. You will interact with Technical Authorities, MoD customers and the wider submarine community to deliver documentation suites required to safely operate and maintain Dreadnought Class nuclear submarines. BAE Systems offers relocation support packages across all Submarines roles subject to eligibility.
