FPGA Design Engineer\n\nFull time on site in Edinburgh\n\n£competitive market rates\n\nInside IR35\n\n6 month initial contract\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDesigning and developing firmware using VHDL for advanced airborne applications\nVerifying designs using either VHDL or SystemVerilog\nWorking within a structured firmware design process, ideally aligned with standards such as RTCA DO-254\nCreating innovative VHDL-based FPGA designs\nUtilising advanced verification techniques, including UVM\nEmploying current FPGA technologies (Xilinx, Altera, Microsemi) and their tools\nUtilising Model Driven Engineering tools such as MATLAB and Simulink\nDesigning and integrating high-speed interfaces like PCIe, DDR3, and Ethernet\nAnalysing system-level documents to derive detailed Firmware requirements\nDebugging firmware designs and supporting system-level verification and integration\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nDegree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on FPGA/Digital techniques\nExperience in creating VHDL-based FPGA designs\nProficiency in advanced verification techniques using VHDL or SystemVerilog/UVM\nKnowledge of current FPGA technologies from Xilinx, Altera, and Microsemi\nFamiliarity with Model Driven Engineering tools including MATLAB and Simulink\nExperience in designing high-speed interfaces like PCIe, DDR3, and Ethernet\nUnderstanding of structured firmware design processes and lifecycle management\nAbility to specify complex timing and area constraints for FPGA place and route\nEffective and flexible communication skills
