We are seeking a Principal engineer to join our Liveable Places team in London (Chancery Lane). The successful candidate will be a highly skilled and experienced Principal Designer with a strong background in design management and project management, leading design delivery and implementation of sustainable transport and public realm improvement projects from inception to completion, primarily in London.
A Little More About Your Role… We are looking for a candidate who can contribute to landmark projects, manage design delivery, coordinate with disciplines, and lead sustainable transport/public realm initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Design Management: Oversee the design process, manage the design team, coordinate with other departments, and ensure design work meets high standards, client requirements, timelines, and budgets.
- Project Management: Plan, schedule, budget, and allocate resources; ensure milestones are met and projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Client Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for clients and keep them informed of progress.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage project risks and resolve issues effectively.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure design work meets quality standards and resolve issues promptly.
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate the design team to work efficiently.
Our services focus on innovative sustainable transport solutions, including business case preparation and design development for a range of projects, such as major public realm improvements in central London and cycling/active travel schemes.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in design management and project management.
- Holder of a relevant professional qualification (IENG or CEng) or close to obtaining one.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to report to senior level.
- Proven track record of leading design projects from inception to completion.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
