They will be tasked with solving complex Mechanical Engineering-related problems and will work independently with minimal guidance and regarded as a specialist in HVAC Engineering. As such, they must have in-depth expertise as well as broad knowledge of the Mechanical discipline within the Engineering function. Responsibilities
Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standards. Apply in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and nonstandard situations. Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses, including design reports and procedures. Manage own time to meet objectives and, as Lead Engineer, forecast and plan resource requirements. Clearly communicate and explain difficult concepts and persuade others to adopt a point of view. When acting as Lead Engineer, direct small or medium Mechanical Engineering teams and lead discipline design of the assigned work area within schedule and budget, and in accordance with standards and project procedures. Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of Discipline execution on the assigned project, including scope, deliverables, schedule, and workforce resources; agree on allocations with the Discipline Manager. Ensure interfaces and deliverables are clearly identified and maintain progress and productivity with corrective actions as needed. Act as project representative for the discipline during meetings with project teams, customers, and relevant authorities. Interface with other disciplines and departments to develop clash-free designs and obtain input for discipline designs and drawings. Prepare, review, and approve discipline engineering design basis, philosophies, and technical specifications (as Lead Engineer). Provide technical direction and review of Designers producing Mechanical Engineering products and assist in procurement activities as required. Participate in project kickoffs, reviews, vendor meetings, and site surveys as required. Lead or support reviews, audits, and design verifications, including IDC and multi-discipline checks. Maintain close coordination with Planning, Project Management, and other engineering disciplines. Monitor costs, progress, and workforce requirements; prepare estimates for bids and manage change notifications where applicable. Coach and supervise engineers, guide junior staff on MOR and discipline procedures, and participate in talent development and interviewing as needed. Participate in development and maintenance of Global Procedures, Software, and Standards; contribute to technical guidelines and training. Identify project staff needs, plan task allocations, and ensure deliverables are completed within budgets and schedules. Lead the discipline team during project audits and design reviews, and coordinate with vendors for discipline-managed items. Review and approve vendor/subcontractor submittals and design verifications; ensure compliance with project specifications. Provide inputs for progress reports, including productivity and forecasting, and alert the team to deviations or change orders.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering. 15-20 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultant predominantly performing detail design. Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society as applicable. Seasoned structural knowledge and strong organization, motivation, and supervisory skills. Able to solve problems without assistance; focused on improving effectiveness and safety (HSE, TQM and cost-conscious). Fluent in English; able to support company goals and work processes; adaptable to reassignment or multiple project support as needed.
