The Vacancy
Binnies is seeking a hydraulic design team member specializing in transient/surge analysis or CFD modeling for water and wastewater projects in the UK and internationally.
You will work on water, wastewater, reservoir, and tunnel projects for various clients including UK water companies, the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, and international clients in North America, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia.
About the Role
The role involves:
- Hydraulic design of water and wastewater facilities, pipelines, or tunnels
- Hydraulic calculations and modeling (transients and/or CFD)
- Technical report preparation
- Client and external organization liaison
- Supervising junior team members
- Delivering projects within budget and schedule
Candidates should have an Engineering degree and Chartered status with ICE, IMechE, or CIWEM.
Qualifications, skills, and knowledge required include:
- Strong hydraulics knowledge
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to handle non-standard situations
- Clear and concise report writing
- Experience in hydraulic design of treatment plants, pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs, spillways, or tunnels
- Experience with transient/surge analysis or CFD
- Programming or macro writing skills
- Ability to interpret and annotate design drawings
- Willingness to work in Redhill, Surrey, occasionally
