Job Title: Principal ILS Engineer

Location: Cowes, Isle of Wight, Great Baddow, Chelmsford or Portsmouth Broad Oak. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £63,500 dependent on skills and experiences plus bonus scheme

What you’ll be doing:

Acting as the focal point of contact for ILS activities relating to specific programmes as directed by the ILS Manager

Producing ILS deliverables to the required standard, achieving the stated requirement

Undertaking peer review ing of ILS deliverables to ensure the delivered output achieves the stated requirement

Managing and driving your own areas and activities of analysis, monitoring your own progress, quality and performance, reporting as required and seeking assistance when necessary

Contributing to bid preparation and cost models

Developing an understanding of the technical specification aligned to the functional area of activity

Monitoring and managing time and cost reporting. Providing inputs to monthly line management reporting

Your skills and experiences:

Working knowledge of the principles of Def Stan 00-25, 00-40/41/42/43/44, 00-600 and Defence Logistics Framework (DLF)

Experience in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) with practical knowledge of MTA, LORA, ARM (FTA, RBD, FMECA), RCM, Spares modelling, Facility Analysis, NATO Codification, Obsolescence Management, PHS&T Analysis, TLC, LSAR, and associated software tools

Understand the purpose, components and processes associated with each element, including identification of dependencies and relationships with other discipline areas

Working knowledge of the application of LSA and LSAR techniques at all stages of the Project Life Cycle

Ability to construct a reasoned and rational argument for the output produced and generate staged reports that support the support solution as required

Ability to mentor and coach ILS Engineers

As the Principal ILS engineer, you’ll apply deep specialist expertise in ILS Engineering to deliver high-quality outputs and logistical support, while ensuring work meets schedule, safety, and performance standards. You’ll also take accountability for delegating and supervising activities across ILS Engineers and Technical Authors, driving effective, supportable solutions every time.
