OverviewPrincipal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer (General Civils and Residential) - Bristol. We are recruiting a Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer to join our expanding Infrastructure Engineering team in Bristol. We seek a talented individual that can deliver a high-quality service, has the ability to think outside the box, and who enjoys a collaborative approach to developing pragmatic and innovative design solutions to the various technical challenges land development can present. The individual should have experience leading projects and teams, whilst also being comfortable getting hands-on with the technical design and production of drawings and documentation.We are looking for a candidate that has a good understanding of Civil Engineering best practice and standards, and the technical design skills to produce high quality work on a range of projects. The individual will need to use their initiative and professional judgment to support our client’s projects and goals.ResponsibilitiesLead in the production of residential or general infrastructure development schemes, including highways, drainage, levels and plot engineering.Take responsibility for managing and prioritising project workload for junior team members; lead major projects in an independent, holistic role in collaboration with others.Design using relevant best practice and guidance (e.g., Manual for Streets, Design and Construction Guidance, CIRIA SuDS Manual, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, Local Authority design standards).Prepare drawings and calculations for private and adoptable arrangements; obtain approvals such as watercourse consent and technical approvals (S104/S38).Numerate and software literate with experience of AutoCAD, Civils3D or similar, and drainage modelling software such as Causeway Flow or similar.Manage non-technical aspects such as contract management, financials, programme and resourcing; client and external-facing responsibilities.Context: Consultancy/private sector development background with a pragmatic approach and understanding of residential development schemes from concept to construction.Demonstrate effective organisational and communication skills with a collaborative approach; full driving licence and access to a car.QualificationsBEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or related subject; 6+ years post-graduate experience; ideally Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant body (e.g., ICE).Demonstrated ability to lead in residential or general infrastructure development schemes and to work on major projects with responsibility for team workload and delivery.Proficiency in using design standards and guidance listed above and ability to prepare drawings and calculations for various agreements.Experience with private and adoptable arrangements, watercourse consent processes, and approvals from key authorities.Software competencies: AutoCAD, Civils3D or similar; drainage modelling software experience.What We Offer / How to ApplyWe offer an excellent remuneration and overall benefits package.
